By Dr. Ashutosh Shrivastava in Metro Heart Institute with Multispecialty, Faridabad
Mrs. Sumitra Devi, a 64-year-old female, came to the orthopedic OPD under Dr. Ashutosh Shrivastava with the chief complaint of painless, deformity in the left elbow, and an inability to hold her forearm. The patient was known case of Rheumatoid Arthritis, had single lung and had a history of a fall at home. Following the fall, the patient underwent two surgeries at other hospitals, involving procedures namely Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) along with bone grafting (both natural and artificial). However, these procedures ultimately failed, resulting in a non-united, painless humerus. Patient was finally demotivated to live with deformity as it was, but patient finally turned to us for opinion.
After thorough examination, investigations, and careful planning, the patient underwent a successful Total Elbow Arthroplasty (TEA) on the left side, performed by Dr. Ashutosh and team.
Post-procedure, the patient is completely satisfied, experiencing painless range of motion up to 135 degrees and regaining the ability to perform her daily activities.
