Heart Blockage Treatment in Noida, Delhi Ncr, India
Overview
Heart blockage, also known as atrioventricular (AV) block, is a problem that occurs when there is an abnormal heart rhythm. In this condition, the electrical signals that normally coordinate the heart’s contractions are delayed or interrupted, causing the heart to beat too slowly.
Types of Heart Blockage:
First-Degree Heart Blockage: The electrical signals slow down as they move from the atria to the ventricles, but all beats are conducted.
Second-Degree Heart Blockage: The electrical impulses are delayed until a beat fails to reach the ventricles. There are two types:
Mobitz Type I: The electrical signals get slower and slower between each beat, eventually dropping a beat.
Mobitz Type II: There is no fixed pattern of the electrical signals reaching the ventricles from the atria.
Third-Degree Heart Blockage: The most severe type, where the electrical signals never make it from the atria to the ventricles. This triggers slow “escape” beats.
Causes of Heart Blockage
Heart block can be congenital (present at birth) or acquired later in life. Congenital cases may be due to autoimmune conditions or birth defects. Acquired heart block can result from genetic changes, heart attack damage, muscle disorders, certain surgeries, or some medications.
Symptoms of Heart Blockage
Common symptoms include shortness of breath, palpitations, chest pain, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and fainting.
Diagnosis of Heart Blockage
Doctors will review your medical history and perform tests like electrocardiograms (ECG), echocardiograms, and Holter monitoring to diagnose the type and severity of heart block.
